Facilities

COMPUTER LAB

Computer education has become a mandatory and integral part of the curriculum. To facilitate the process the computer lab is well equipped with around 30 computer sets connected with broad band internet and is air-conditioned to make the teaching-learning process a grand success.

SCIENCE LAB

The school boasts of four spacious and well equipped laboratories, one each for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The laboratories are well provided with the latest apparatus and gadgets and backed up by generator to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

LIBRARY

The school becomes the bower of learning with presence of a library which not only holds innumerable numbers of priceless books but is also an excellent reading room with air-conditioning.

INTEGRATED LEARNING

The school has a healthy dynamic scientific environmental learning process facilitated by highly competent and well experienced staff applying modern means, techniques and skills of teaching. Teaching is a mission or passion here -a mission to teach the student to make a worthy citizen to serve the country whole-heartedly. Both the teachers and the students enjoy their work even the complex and complicated one with efforts and smile face. The children are given opportunity so that students face every difficulty with an expertise. The students strengthen their mental faculty through co-curricular activities viz Excursions, SUPW, Debates Declamation etc. Through it they also develop their analytical thinking.

EXCURSION

The school plans picnic and educational tours for the overall development of the students. They are taken to Historical Places, Museums, Factories, Natural surroundings etc. to provide them with first hand knowledge. These outgoings and interactions with nature channelise their latent potentials. In the academic session 2008-09 children were taken to many historical places as Mysore, Ooty, Bangaluru. They visited Mysore Palace, Brindavan garden, Bandipur National Park, Lal Bag. They also enjoyed the scenic beauty of Ooty and had a glimpse of its diverse flora and fauna . This year, the students were taken to Jaipur, Delhi and Agra where they visited historical places like Taj Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Lal Quila, and many other places. Time to time, we also organize picnic and get together for the school staff with their family.

The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India would be interacting with school children on the occasion of Teacher's day on the 5th September,2014.
The Hon'ble PM's address and Q & A session with school children will be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

  1. MRS Urmila Singh Principal DAV PS Barkakana has been conferred with "CBSE AWARD FOR TEACHERS" for the year 2012. The hon'ble minister of HRD Govt. of India will present the award on 4th Sept 2013 in New Delhi. The award will comprise a certificate of commendation cash award of Rs 25000/- and a shawl. HATS OFF TO MADAM URMILA SINGH. you have done it.
  2. We bagged the 2nd position in State Level IT Quiz Competition held at International Cricket Stadium, Dhurwa, Ranchi on 8th December, 2012.
  3. The School Kho-Kho team (Girls) became the champion in the 30th zonal MHRAT 2012 held at DAV Public School, Ara(Kuju) on 19-10-12
  4. The School kho-kho team (Girls) became Runner-Up in CBSE Inter School Kho-Kho tournament of East Zone held at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial School Digwadih, Dhanbad on 31/10/2012
  5. School IT Quiz Team Bagged the top position in Junior and Senior group in IT Quiz Conducted by MICA at St. Xavier School, Hazaribagh on 1/11/2012 amongst 35 Schools of different districts.
  6. 2nd Inter School karate Champion Ship organised by SHOTOKAN KARATE Do fed. in DAV Barkakana in which in kumite gold medal won by Rahul Pandey of class XI and Bi-Cycle other Students also won Silver,Bronze, and Gold Medal.
  7. District Level Exhibition of National Science congress was organised at Gandhi Memorial High School in which the first and second position was bagged by Junior and Senior Group bagged the first Position and brought Laurels to the School.
  8. Ankita Singh of Class VII B & Ashwani of Class VIII B won the first and second prize at the Poster Competition organized by Lions Club Bhurkhunda. Ankita has also been selected for International Poster Competition.
  9. 6 students are qualified in JEE Mains 2014. Congratulation & Best of Luck of their next examination
